Results from the MIRACLE project will be presented at the Finnish Physics Days 2020 in Kuopio, Finland. The conference is organized by the Finnish Physical Society and Department of Applied Physics, University of Eastern Finland. Dr. Rubina Shaikh and Dr. Ervin Nippolainen will present results from the MIRACLE consortium research groups of University of Eastern Finland, University of Oulu as well ArtPhotonics and Ulm University.
Physics Days are the annual meeting of the Finnish Physical Society. It is an important tradition that brings together physicists working in Finland to network and share knowledge in physics research and applications in Finland and worldwide.
The study that will be presented by Dr. Nippolainen evaluates the potential of mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy to distinguish between different cartilage injury types associated with post traumatic osteoarthritis and idiopathic osteoarthritis (OA) induced by mechanical and enzymatic damages.
Dr. Shaikh will present a study that demonstrates the correlation of features in MIR spectra with OARSI histopathological grade.
