In the publication, a comprehensive description of the potential benefits of the iBEAM concept as well as detailed design and fabrication considerations are given. Additionally, beam combination of the substrate-integrated hollow waveguide concept for beam combination in the mid-infrared (MIR) is provided. With the derived performance, the developed iBEAM concept is highly suitable for the demands within the MIRACLE project. Further, beam combination for manufacturing processes as well as for infrared spectroscopy are envisioned in addition to application in chem/bio sensor concepts.
