The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) in conjunction with Kuopio University Hospital (KUH) received permission for the real-time clinical examination of Near Infrared (NIR) arthroscopy probe. The in vivo clinical trials with NIR probe are planned to start at Autumn 2018 in Kuopio University Hospital.
The goal of MIRACLE project is to develop Mid-Infrared arthroscopy imaging system for real-time diagnosis of degenerative joint diseases. One of the important points in the development of the system is the design of the MIR-ATR probe, suitable for medical diagnosis in vivo. Thus, clinical testing of similar probe in this stage of project is very important for further development of mid-infrared arthroscopy imaging system. The design of the MIR-ATR probe will be improved based on the results of NIR probe clinical testing.
