nanoplus produced a new background Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) with refined wavelength to improve data analysis.

The data modeling of the first set of delivered laser showed that the wavelength of the background laser (5679 nm) was very close to the Lipid laser (5735 nm). This renders data analysis very difficult and somewhat unreliable. Thus after a technical meeting, the MIRACLE consortium refined the background laser requirement. For this purpose, nanoplus fabricated the new laser and delivered it on the 1st of April 2021. The new background QCL has a wavelength of 5567 nm which is within the defined wavelength range and very close to the target wavelength (5556 nm).

Additionally, because of redundancy and easy access to the measurement device, the construction of a second device is underway. nanoplus has already started the production of the second laser series. Most of the lasers are now in the chip process stage so we expect by the end of June to have the second series also ready for delivery.
